Rose Gold Sunset

I love this time of the evening. It’s when the sunlight outside causes the pink in my curtains to reflect a pretty shade of rose gold in my bedroom. I almost hurry to bed early every night just to soak up the lushness of the colors. Between the roar of the air conditioning with its frosty air cooling the room and the breeze of the ceiling fan, I feel like I’m in heaven. I’m transported to another space where the worries of the day drift away.

I love my quiet space where outside of the air conditioning, the only noise I hear is the squeaking of the bed as I turn over. It’s my safe space from the outside world where it smells clean and fresh. I rush here to read in the rose gold sunset. Whether it’s a romance novel or a magazine, I’m able to momentarily insert myself in another place and time. I can be anyone or anywhere I want to be with my books.

It’s strange to think that watching a sunset behind a curtain can be just as relaxing as watching it outside. But this is the time of day I relish. As the sun gives way to the moon, it’s fiery protest waning, I sometimes lay in the darkness and meditate. I either find one online or practice those I’ve learned in yoga. This practice elevates my peace and allows me to sleep deeper.

My little rose gold sunset room is a place where I retreat to recharge in so many ways. It’s not just the sleep that serves that purpose. It’s the reading, the listening to music, the washing of my face, and the meditation. It’s the absorption of the color so delicately reflected in the space. If peace were a color, it would be rose gold sunset.
